Tokyo: Shibuya

acrylic on canvas, 40″ x 30″

You arrive in Tokyo at the end of March. Cherry trees are blossoming everywhere. You will need to reread every single spring haiku. You see people entering a building with no markings and intrigued, open the door yourself. You are met with a wall of noise, an onslaught of percussion without rhythm. Ten times ten thousand metal balls are non-stop dropping through ten thousand Pachinko machines. Two security guards appear and demand that you put away your camera or leave. You do both, heading out into the beautiful immaculate city.
